Custom Build

Custom Home Built with your Lifestyle in Mind

A custom home is exactly that. It is not built to look like any other home, such as a production house in a developer-built planned community. Your home is specifically designed with your wants, needs and lifestyle in mind, and should be designed to maximize the land it will be built on. The options and choices you select are limitless, creating that unique Colorado Mountain home that showcases your personality.

Reasons to Build a Custom Home

There are many reasons why you would want a custom home built in a mountain resort town:

  • Convenience of a second home
  • Vacation retreat
  • A gathering spot for family and friends
  • Retirement head start

Whatever your reason, Fraser Valley Construction will work with you through the entire process. We understand that your custom home is set up to accommodate your lifestyle, making it easy to use and enjoy.

Custom Built to Suite Your Needs – Our Process

We are a general contractor, overseeing all phases of your new home construction. We visualize the entire process, and coordinate for efficiency, cost and quality. Our comprehensive viewpoint differs from that of a tradesman/builder, whose expertise is on just one aspect of the homebuilding process. The end result is a home built as it was designed, with no short cuts or forgotten key elements.

Initial Steps

We schedule an initial meeting with you to go over the project, including plans, budget, timeline and goals. Once the decision has been made to move forward with us as your builder, we will establish contract terms. Whether you are just in the conception stage or already own the lot and blueprint, we can help get the process started.

Prior to construction start, a few preliminary steps need to be taken, such as lot staking, soil testing and permit applications, etc.  We also go to work negotiating the best price possible with subcontractors. This is what can make or break a budget. We have first-hand knowledge of what is a fair market price. This comes from experience, industry knowledge and a detailed understanding of job costing.

It is also important to remember that the schedule is a key component to controlling expenses. For your home to be completed on schedule, there are key components that need to be done in a specific order. Ample time must be allowed within the schedule to accomplish these tasks prior to starting another. Having a consistent work flow throughout the project allows the suppliers and sub-contractors better able to manage their time.

During the construction process we keep you informed at every step. We also encourage you to ask questions and provide feedback along the way. Your ideas are important and we thrive on putting them into action. The entire process to build a home can range from 6-12 months depending on the size and complexity.

Completing Your Home

We will conduct a walk-through during several key stages in the homebuilding process, with a final walk-through after all the interior finishes are complete. Closing happens once the Building Department passes all required inspections, and issues a Certificate of Occupancy for your home.
